Would the addition of 4 western schools (BYU, AFA, Boise, SDSU) dramatically improve the tv value of this conference?

They already tried the western expansion. TCU, Boise, SDSU all agreed to join the Big East and it didn't work out for whatever reason. What would be the difference now?

BYU isn't moving anywhere unless it's the Big-XII or Pac-12. Boise, AFA, and SDSU all have a good thing going in the MWC and arguably the same could be said about them as it is about BYU.

Sdsu would jump in a New York minute. Boise I think is starting to regret their power play move on a slowly dying mwc and would love a second chance to join the AAC. BYU is the hold up to possible creating the last power conference. However there's been a lot of debate on their board about giving up their unsustainable Indy status as they watch their standing in the fbs slide. The hold up I think is their inability to come to grips that the rest of the world doesn't/never considered them like Notre Dame lite07-coffee307-coffee307-coffee3

Why would Boise State be regretting their decision? They're receiving a disproportionate share of MWC revenue and they went to the first access bowl in the CFP era.

BYU also isn't quite as delusional as to think that they're considered to be like Notre Dame. What's important for them is that they are never STRUCTURALLY considered to be inferior to Utah. Joining a G5 league would cause that to be the case, which is why it isn't happening. It doesn't matter what fans might think to be unsustainable - being deemed structurally inferior to Utah is completely unacceptable to BYU now and forever. A G5 conference has as much of a chance of getting Notre Dame itself to join them as BYU at this point.

I agree that San Diego State is more open to the move, but the issue is that they're not going to be a lone wolf moving by itself. That's what tanked their move to the old Big East/AAC in the first place: when Boise decided to stay in the MWC, SDSU wasn't going to go to an Eastern-based league alone. It would take multiple schools from the West for SDSU to consider to go to the AAC. Of course, the schools that the AAC would be most interested in from the West are Boise State and BYU, who are the two non-P5 schools that are least likely to want to join the AAC as of today.
The Boise contract to "save the MWC " is choking out some already cash starved programs in the MWC and is not going to be sustainable long-term. My comments about Byu are simply from my observations after reading actual debates on Byu 's main board nothing more nothing less07-coffee3
