UConn hopes to play more former Big East rivals in the future, according to athletic director David Benedict.

that would make it seem like they're remaining in the AAC.

That's how I read that too - that when it comes time to build future OOC schedules you'll see fewer Arizonas and Auburns and more Georgetowns and St John's...es? It does mean that the athletic department is starting to take notice of how the fan base feels, though, and the bump in ticket sales they get when they play teams from the Big East (and yes, it probably includes Cuse/Pitt/ND as well).

The Big East shouldn't let UConn's stay in the AAC be easy. Don't let them mask fan disinterest in the AAC schedule by scheduling lots of OOC games.

Put some gentle pressure on them: You want to play Villanova and St Johns and Georgetown more? Join the Big East. 07-coffee3
They already do play some old Big East rivals OOC. played 2 of them this year in Syracuse and Villanova. Also, TV helps in putting these together in things like the Jimmy V classic.

Oh I know, they also played Georgetown last year as well.

My point was just that maybe the Big East shouldn't be so accommodating, so UConn can't have their cake and eat it too.
