Dropping football, moving to the Horizon would be a good move, IMHO

EMU strikes me as more of a Summit school than Horizon short of having football.

Who knows, it's all speculation, as is the thought of EMU dropping football out of FBS as they should.

No they shouldn't drop FB.

-The MAC distributed $32 million in TV money last year. That would not exist in an FCS conference.
-The MAC also receives 1-2 million per school from the NCAA which would also be cut off from the NCAA.
-Marketing dollars would be slashed it half.

Savings?
-Instead of paying 400k for an HC they pay 250k in FCS.
-Scholarships go from 85 to 65. But it is an internal line item.
-Cutting sports down to the D1 minimum of 14 could save an extra 1 million.

The bottom line is when you have a 30-35k seat stadium, play in an FBS conference with low travel costs (EMU can be everywhere in 4-5 hours) that giving that up doesn't make sense.

I didn't say they should drop to FCS.

And being in FBS's only bus league is a major positive.
