In the aftermath i am also mad but my main criticism is about the crappy conference we are in. I am extremely disappointed we didn't win but unlike some I am not blaming the players or even the coach for that matter. Our players played hard but couldn't hit a shot. Our game plan was good by the coaching staff but the coaches are not shooting the ball. But this conference we are is is terrible. And I am not trying to say we lost the game because of the location but honestly, how can we expect to recruit against the competition close to our home and play a tournament in Frisco Texas where a crowd of a couple of thousand is good? I am sitting here watching a conference tournament game between UMBC and Vermont and it has a very good crowd. If we stay in this crappy conference I believe the #1 seed should host the tournament. Sure, it gives them a big advantage but at least you would have an energetic fan base at the game. And what if the #1 seed loses? Big deal, it's no worse than it is now.

As for Jeff Jones, I think the last two years ( counting this year) the staff has signed a very good group of kids, ones that will compete for the conference title. And I am not patting him on the back like some will claim I am doing. But in my opinion as long as we stay in this conference our problems are a lot bigger than just changing a coach. It's true Stansbury has brought in some big time recruits but most everybody is doubting his tactics. That's all I'll say about that.

For the moment I am focusing my frustration on this crazy basketball conference.

I whole hardheartedly agree with Jerry.

These last couple of years feel way too similar to our Sun Belt years. A geographically stupid conference. No practical rivals. Yes, I hear people say if you can't win in this supposedly weaker conference etc, etc. But being in the CUSA there's an indescribable pall that permeates everything...the players, coaches and the fans. You slowly don't care as much. As a fan, you can't enjoy the fun of an away game. A trip to the tournament is out of the question due to costs and the possibility that if you lose early you're stuck there because it's too expensive to change a flight (see Billy and I in B'ham!!). You have to spend an hour searching for where you can watch an away game. Things like that wear you down.

We moved up too fast. We sold out basketball souls for football. We should have stayed in the CAA at least 5-8 years longer. It was fun vying for a national championship and not a third or fourth tier bowl. We would have built our nice new 22,000 stadium since that's what we're getting anyway even though we went up to "Big Boy" football.

I know most of you on this board will pummel me for those sentiments but I'm a big girl and can handle it.
