The last player that stepped up and led us to a big win was Trey Freeman. After 4 years full of close, disappointing losses in just about every big game where nobody steps up and we choke down the stretch every single time, you have to wonder what the problem is. At some point, one has to assume something is wrong in the psychology or the culture. Either that or JJ just happens to be among the unluckiest people in the world.

Recall, we even choked down the stretch in the Freeman game and blew something like a 10 point lead in the last 4 minutes.

Disagree - not abdicating the coach’s ultimate responsibility of winning the game. My point is we should have won the WKU game - the players missed the shots not Jones. The players are also accountable as well if they don’t play well. If you replay the game, we would have won had we hit a respectable % of FTs and threes. We did not get outcoached in that game.

In the CUSA Tournament this past season Jones absolutely made a bad coaching move. Zone was the way to play WKU. He started in a zone, got a nice lead, then inexplicably abandoned it and quickly lost the lead. WKU had a nice lead at the half. He went back to the zone at the beginning of the 2nd half and by sticking with it eventually got back into the game but lost it in the last couple of minutes. His chances would have been better had he not abandoned the zone - that was getting the job done - midway through the 1st half. It was no secret that WKU performs much worse against the zone than they do against the man-to-man. Even their own fans said as much throughout the year. The players didn't dictate what defense to play, Jones did.

Lost the lead because our shots stopped falling/dried up. Scoring is also an important component of keeping a lead.

Duh ... of course scoring is an important component of keeping a lead. Shots stopped falling because ODU had to start taking the ball out of bounds after WKU started consistently scoring instead of the run outs ODU was getting while stopping WKU when ODU was in the zone. Check a recording of the game.

No, the game in my opinion was lost at the FT and 3 pt lines. Those percentages were abysmal.
