If I remember correctly, ESPN cancelled that program. I certainly could be wrong, but I could of swore that happened a handful of years ago. The Cleveland State win at the TED in 2011 may have been the last one for us. I remember Norris Cole shooting bombs!

ESPN did cancel it, which also is not a valid reason for the conferences not to get together and do it on their own.

The sticking point would be all conferences involved would likely need to be under the same network umbrella to insure it finds a T.V. home and the leagues have added financial motivation to make it happen.

Here is motivation. Better computer rankings and more quality opponents = more teams in the tournament and higher seeds, which equals more $ shares which = way more $ than any mid majors are getting for TV deals.
