According to Zeigler it's not SDSU who wants to stay in the Pac-12, it's the Pac-12 needing a 6th member and not having a replacement at hand.

Gonzaga needs a home for Men's soccer and a schedule. Supposedly that is the hangup (that and revamping the Fall schedules of sports). Sentiment in the MWC has been in favor of sponsoring the sport, but against having affiliates as it's a league without affiliates (Colorado College Women's soccer is the exception, not sure why).

They were a powerhouse but since the move they haven't done much. But it did help with scheduling with having 12 teams.
