Things can be confusing when you watch back-up QB's play. The best example I can think of is when Ryan Huzjak (sp?) had his senior year in 1996 after a very good 1995 season. Every once in a while, sophomore Chris Wallace would get in - and he was horrible. When I found out he was going to be the starting QB for 1997 and the opening game was against Purdue - I figured we were screwed big time. He had a gun for an arm and could also run the ball effectively. That was back in the days when catching a football was not a strong suit for us, but on a couple of occasions, I think the receivers made catches because the ball was indented into their pads. Bolden also did not impress in his early days. I believe Guadagni comes out of high school more highly rated than either Wallace or Bolden. That doesn't mean much, only that if they can play - they will prove it when they get on the field. The guy that probably fooled most of us was Clint Cochran. He had a huge game against Iowa State in what might have been his debut - or the second game he started. I think most people projected him to be an All-MAC performer based on that one game. That turned out to be a career game for him. He took his highly developed brain and put it to better use in the medical profession. I don't think he even attempted to play his senior year.
