Upward mobility is everyone's wish for UC with regard to expansion. This downward mobility has been going on at the high school level for years. Here in Ohio we only had 3 divisions when I was in school but now there are 7 with talk of adding an 8th. The kids, parents, school, and community at Division 6 State Champs Marion Local feel the same thrill of victory as D1 Pickerington Central.

Mount Union and their fans were thrilled with winning another National Championship. Maybe UC will be able to hang a NC banner someday!

The hang up, at least for now to the G5 Playoff Idea is the AAC. The AAC, at least for now is not going to take part in this playoff and the G5 won't do it (for now) without the AAC for a couple reasons:
1. The AAC teams have the most cache (aside from Boise) and would maximize the TV audiences and gate sales.
2. If the G4 breaks off and does this without the AAC then the G4 is agreeing that they are 'less than' the AAC or under us. Which they won't do right now. You can tell from comments from some of the G4 Conference Commisonors/AD's they are not happy with AResco's P6 narrative in the public.

ESPN want the the AAC/G5 to do this playoff voluntarily. If we do it voluntarily, they know none of us can sue for the created gap p5vg5. They would love nothing more than to expand the P5 playoff WITHOUT one spot for G5. In fact it wouldn't surprise me they are waiting to expand the P5 playoff until AFTER IF/WHEN the G5 forms their own playoff.

Side note:
If the Aresco/AAC hold out long enough I could see ESPN doing what they did to the Big East and getting some P5's (ACC/B12) to take two to four AAC schools to weaken the AAC (UC, UH, etc.). If the AAC lost some big programs Aresco would probably throw up the white flag,stop the the P6 narrative and just join the G5 and it would be the beginning of a real division of P5 vs G5.

I think UC's best hope of moving up is from this scenario.

Excellent points, and sounds very plausible. The cash flow hurt will eventually force the delusional in the AAC to move forward with a G5 playoff. P6 ??? - who is he kidding.
