For the last 40 years there have not been a huge number of outstanding bright spots in Rice sports overall. When you explicitly omit the 10 year run in baseball you omit almost all the ambient light and limit them to onesy-twosey flashes occurring at not a great frequency.

Those who are limiting the baseball run to just 10 years are setting the bar impossibly high? Are you now only counting years we were Top 10 (out of 320 D1 programs)?

I think it is quite a fair assessment that many Rice BB fans have been disappointed over the last ~ 8-9 years. Much like U of Hawaii women's VB fans expected to be at least elite 8 for well more than a decade. Yes the bar is high, but not impossibly so, as evidenced by the fact that it was actually accomplished. We have not made it out of a Super in almost 10 years. If we made the CWS even every 5 years or so, most would realistically accept that. We are now arguably ~ the 5 or 6th best program in the state
