Heard the podcast and I wasn’t that impressed with the Commissioner. He said a lot of the same talking points about APR and how good of an academic league they are, but our exposure has gone down. I’d say we are in the bottom 5 of all D1 conferences now.

The NEC has a better TV deal. Thursday TV games on CBSSN, ESPN3, and the championship on ESPN2 or possibly ESPN. The NEC championship is going to be on the same time as our championship on a Tuesday. No reason the CAA shouldn’t have that slot.

The Big South, which has maybe 2 schools which are #1 in any population areas (Liberty and UNCA) has ESPNU, ESPN3 and the championship on a Sunday afternoon on ESPN.

The WCC is miles better now. You can see games between low-level teams on multiple RSNs and the Gonzaga/St. Mary’s games at worst are on RSNs and most of them are on a ESPN network.

There’s no reason that CAA arrangement with Comcast shouldn’t have continued. Even though it was not much last season (the only games they broadcasted other than the tourney were from W&M and Towson), it was still way better than now.

With the Commissioner’s Big East roots, they could have made a deal with Fox’s networks. A few national games on FS2 and the championship on FS1 would have been better than what we have now. But instead we’re stuck with a deal with CBSSN.
