Having your fans sit at home and watching the few games on TV and even more games on computer does not generate ticket revenue or donations. It would be interesting to see how much NIU lost in season ticket sales and donations with this year's schedule. I know they will lose me next year if this fiasco is continued.

Same here. I will still follow games but will be 100 percent done with season tickets if there is no improvement

Following games online through an NIU FB portal where fans pay to access high quality streaming and allow for interactive feedback is the future.
With the money saved on traveling, parking and tickets one could afford to pay that money to NIU FB through a specialized TV or online internet streaming access.

Then why do we need stadium improvements or even stadiums for that matter?

That is the future Dogfan.

Stadium improvements costing tens of $millions are an old fashioned way to get big donors to spend. Problem one might argue is that they rarely recoup their investment.

Stadium boxes for high paying donors might pay back their costs and even generate revenue.

Students do not care for stadium improvements. Many would be angry with the tuition increases.

Fans like yourself who goto games are arguably the best and most dedicated fans.
Fans like myself who rarely goto games, but follow almost every game are arguably the majority of NIU FB fans.

Fans like myself get enjoyment from seeing NIU win games.
We prefer the convenience of home, and in my case would rather pay a premium for good NIU TV coverage then travel, park and buy a ticket.
Revenues from TV in many programs are very significant.
Why can NIU not move towards giving our alumni fan base a high quality dependable TV alternative, with archives and expert local analyses for a fee.
I would even listen to the regular irritating TCF bank commercials.

Students care very much about the quality of stadiums, its a point of pride when bringing family/friends to campus (or deciding to not invite them to gamday if the stadium is lacking), or comparing their alma matter to that of their friends that went elsewhere, P5 or G5. There will of course be student complaints when the expenditure happens, but only from a vocal minority. If the improvements are seeded by private money, not much to be said anyway.
