Exactly... we would have a lot less fans at most CAA games, if we were still stuck in FCS and we would not be getting a stadium like we're about to get.

Why not? We still needed a new stadium and the one we are getting still wouldn’t be the largest or nicest in the CAA. I bet we would have gotten something very similar to what we wind up with. It just would have been described that way from the start. And I do believe the crowds would be the same for CAA football and the students would actually be More engaged. Other than Marshall, there is not a football team in our division I knew about before we joined.

I take it you weren't much of a college football fan before we started playing. Those LaTech WAC teams were on ESPN pretty regularly, producing some NFL players like Tim Rattay, Ryan Moats, Josh Scobee and Luke McCown. The same could be said for Southern Miss (Adalius Thomas, Michael Boley and Todd Pinkston) and UAB (Roddy White, Joe Webb).

As for the stadium, I think it could be argued that we'd be building a nicer stadium if we were still in the CAA. Since we announced our move up, the Cox bill was introduced. One may assume if we don't make the move that the law targeting us is never introduced and we can rely more heavily on student fees to help cover the costs. But dropping back down won't change that law or what we're building so it's a moot point.

And I don't think attendance would all that great for games other than W&M, JMU and UR. You could already see people getting complacent with the other games before we announced the jump. Coming in late, leaving early or not coming at all.

We seem to get more opposing fans than we did vs. non JMU/WM/NSU games. I don't ever remember Delaware, Nova, etc. bringing many fans, but NC State, UNC, VT, Marshall, MTSU, Charlotte seem to bring a few (obv VT). Cant remember if WKY travels well or not.
