Most Bears insiders I've read this week are projecting the final TE spot will come down to Brown vs one other. With the loss this past weekend of their #1 WR, Cameron Meredith, due to injury, there is some feeling also that this helps Brown because he has the ability to be split out in some WR sets. Bears host the Browns (npi) tonight at 8pmET.

I expect Khalid Abdullah to get plenty of playing time tonight as the Giants travel to the Patriots (7:30pmET). Then, I expect he'll get cut tomorrow or Saturday. I'm hoping if he isn't salvaged by the G-Men onto the Practice Squad, which is a possibility considering they have a ton of question marks at RB, he can and will find another club who is interested. With the rate that RB's get injured during the season, even if he doesn't find a club (even practice squad) by next week, he is always a phone call away from being brought up during the season.

Mitchell Kirsch will also see a lot of time with the Bears tonight... http://www.chicagonow.com/bears-backer/2...cleveland/

Rosters must be trimmed to 53 by 4pmET Saturday (before practice squads are assembled).

Josh Wells will make the Jags roster and is considered a possible starter at Left Tackle. He has a minor injury he's working through this week and will not play tonight in their final preseason game at Atlanta (7pmET). Earl Watford will play and he needs to play well as his chance of making the final roster is 50-50. This site thinks he'll make it... https://www.bigcatcountry.com/2017/8/27/...-preseason ...though, it will be interesting to see whether the Jags carry 9 OL's like this site projects or 8 OL's like a lot of teams do. Watford missed a lot of earlier preseason camp due to injury and is just now getting back to playing rhythm.

Oddly enough, if the Bears' drafted rookie TE had performed better the Bears would have probably cut Miller and solidified Brown at the #3 TE. Many said it wouldn't be worth keeping Miller on as a #3 TE at that age and salary. I think he still has a solid shot given the WR situation, they can get creative in where he lines up, routes, etc.

My biggest concern is Khalid. Really hoping he makes the roster but he needs to bring a dimension to the table to make the team. Catching passes out of the backfield could have been it but holding onto the ball has been a challenge. He had a great catch for a first down that was called back on a penalty and then proceeded to drop his next pass. Pulling for him to shine this last game, I think the staff really likes him.
