That's what you get when you don't grow up in the heart of a food's primary area. ie:
1. You don't put anything else on a Philly pretzel. I grew up with them and watched them being made. Just a travesty to do so.
2. Getting steak and cheese on a roll (ala Texadelphia and others) does not mean you have one are an expert on Philly Cheesesteaks.
3. Meat and cheese on a hard roll, with fixin's, is not a hoagie.
(PS - a sub sandwich is not a hoagie)

I admit, the hot cream cheese thing is a little too much for folks but I think it's tasty. Hot dijon mustard on a soft pretzel is a Gotschee thing, large Gotschee community in my neighborhood.
