It appears the Yankees have finally suceeded in taking over the hearts and soul of Atlanta. You will not find any reference in any newspaper or in witings by anyone on either side during the conflict as a "Civil War". The North referred to it as a "rebellion" and the CSA as a War Between the States. During a debate in 1907 Senator Edward Meaning from Washington state (of all places) was offended by the use of War Between the States by Senator Benjamin Tillman from South Carolina. Meaning brought up before the Senate a resolution to ofically adopt Civil War as the name of the conflict. He pushed the idea since it was a war between citizens of the same country (which it was not after the CSA suceeded) and no treaties signed when it was over, it should be called a civil war. Although never ofically adopted the name began to circulate among northern book publishing companies. The winners always write the history books. It has never been more true than in this instance.

Get a dictionary some time. Words have meanings.

It's a Civil War because there is no such thing as the Confeferate States of America. Some Americans decided to rebel against the United States of America. The fact that there were people shooting at eact other for a protracted period of time in many battles made it a War. The fact that all of the people shooting at each other were Americans makes it of the Civil variety.

It isn't as simple as the South attacked first. But, thanks to the inept educational system in this nation, I can't be upset with your ignorance of the factual circumstances unfolding in the days leading up to April 12, 1861. I'm done with this. Back to football.
