You need to check the definition of a civil war. No true Southerner refers to the conflict as The Civil War. War Between the States is an acceptable variance though.

I get what you're saying, but civil wars are fought by civilians to overthrow an existing government. There was no such intent or desire on the part of the CSA to overthrow the government in Washington, DC.
