100%

Yes. Otto, Myers, Gray are signing.

Some of you probably have more insight into this than I do, and we've talked about costs/scholarships elsewhere, but consider the following:
The average of tuition, room and board for the last 3 years has been $55,153/year. Assuming a 50% scholarship (does it cover just tuition, or everything?), that means that the parents of a player who has been at Rice for 3 years have invested almost $83K ($55,153 x 50% x 3) in the college endeavor. Given the small percentage of minor league players that actually make it to the bigs, it seems like a big investment to walk away from (although I guess they could always come back - but then they're paying full freight down the road). Sure, the signing bonus sometimes covers it but that also brings income taxes into play. Just wondering - as college costs continue to escalate, for how many parents (of even the great players) does it make economic sense to send a promising player to Rice, when (especially if in TX) instead could just play for a state school and get just as much exposure to MLB scouts. So, if they have the talent to get drafted after 3 years and are otherwise inclined to leave, what is the parents' rationale to make the large upfront investment at Rice vis-a-vis UT or A&M? Of course, if the talent doesn't transfer and not drafted, then they have at least stayed 4 years and received a discounted Rice degree.

Plus all the money they've invested in said player's development from tee ball to travel teams. I believe that MLB will reimburse a player for any future college costs (the amount subject to the player's individual contract), provided that they resume their studies no later than a few years after they retire from baseball. So I would imagine that any of these guys will not be paying full sticker price, if they choose to finish their degree.

Theoretically, if a player were talented enough, they really should go to a high profile JUCO and get drafted after one year. But to answer your last question (re: state school versus Rice), I don't think that's entirely dissimilar from a parent asking whether their non-athlete HS student should go to a private school versus a state school - just depends on whether they think the juice is worth the squeeze.
