It's great to see CMU and EMU investing in their facilities. Long overdue for us, that's for sure.

Arrows, I like your thinking about the webcam but, like you we are a MAC school. Folks are crying about the expenditure already and such a site would probably only serve to ignite more weeping, whining and complaining. The school six miles west of us does the webcam thing.

What people fail to realize is the social, economic and entertainment value that MAC football presents to the communities they are located in and should serve. I live a mile from the "Big House" but have attended only one game there in the last ten years, yet I have season tickets to EMU football. Big Ten football presents a superior experience to be sure, but at a super inflated price.

Scoreboards are crucial to the fan experience and in most cases are revenue generating investments with respect to advertising sales. From a marketing perspective MAC schools have a huge sweet spot to hit as well. They are not the upscale retailers of the past like Macy's, Lord & Taylor, etc... but they no longer should act like K-Mart with high school scoreboards and little fan amenities. Target did a fabulous job by being an "upscale discounter" and that is indeed what the MAC needs to do. The communities, restaurants, party stores, gas stations and hotels in Ypsilanti and Mt. Pleasant will be very, very happy as a result.
