Southwest Conference:
West: UTEP, New Mexico State, UTSA, Texas State,
Rice, North Texas, ULL
East: Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, ULM,
Southern Mississippi, UAB, South Alabama

The three Alabama schools would have to be divided up somehow. I'm not familiar enough with the geography of the east to divide those schools up along geographic lines. Probably north-south divisions. I guess an advantage of doing something like this is rivalries and travel. Each basketball tournament would be great. I'm sure there are disadvantages as well. I wonder if CUSA doesn't just skim the cream off the top of the SB as opposed to a full merger. I'd hate to see anyone left behind.

Some schools can't hang in FBS example NMSU and ULM. Why even consider them?

I'd agree that CUSA West would probably only be targeting Texas State, Arkansas State, and ULL. New Mexico State and ULM are dead weight, but we may be looking at the possibility of a full merger. Who knows, some schools in the western part of Texas may want to bring NMSU along. Didn't they play good basketball in the past? I know they're a big rival of UTEP. Just thinking out loud here.
