The Summit's response should actually be absorption of MAC soccer. If you figure Akron and West Virginia will land in a higher profile leagues like the B1G, CUSA or AAC, targeting NIU, WMU, and BGSU would secure the Summit. It would also be a surprisingly tight geographic group with IUPUI, Fort Wayne, EIU and WIU in the same tight footprint. ORU would be an outlier. Whether the Summit wants to target Kansas City for membership or not, it would now be on their terms.

Going after Denver and Omaha for what reason? Market presence??? Those two schools are not players in their respective markets. If they are willing to "go west" why choose those schools?
Those are hockey first schools. Right now they are concerned with UND going B1G in that sport, and making a play in a paper about going to the Horizon is meant to scare UND about the existance of the Summit, nothing more. Denver and Omaha need a viable NCHC, and that could break up without UND.
