NCSU fans and the school are just as deserving of having a quality program as any other school and to run them down for no reason seems petty to me. UNCW has been there and you should have a empathy for another group fans that are in the same place.

That's just it Mullet. Their fan base isn't looking for a "quality program". You can question Gottfired's coaching ability, but he took NCSU to 4 NCAA tournaments appearances and 2 s16 trips in a 6 year span. That IS quality by any objective measure. But, it's not good enough if you're comparing yourself against Carolina and Duke. Which, is exactly what most of us have been saying all along. State may meet several categories of a quality job, but coaches are wary of stepping into that position with those expectations.

Most people get this. State fans, or those who profess their love for ACC basketball, as you did, may deny it.

If they think are beating Duke and UNC then that would be a pipe dream but losing by 50 and 30 should not happen either. It can be a solid top 15 program if they get the right guy. I know lots of State fans and I don't hear them saying they have to beat those guys.
