What's so special about a start-up program like S Alabama?? Of course, you'll argue they deserved it since already a Sun Belt member in all sports except football. There is no argument against that.

USA has been a member of D1 for 45 years. A record of modest, but real success in men's basketball (including a fairly recent AT LARGE NCAA bid), a couple of individual NCAA champions in several sports, 30+ NCAA baseball bids, etc.

How about this....when UWF moves up to D1....they can wait for 40 years then start football.

And since USA decided to move 45 years ago and UWF didn't....then its reasonable to assume that USA will have built up some advantages due to that tenure. Including proving that the school can compete in athletics. One of those is the fact that they're in a conference that sponsors football. UWF chose to stay in D3 or NAIA or wherever. I spent 20+ years in the media market with UWF and they never did anything.

USA has every right to not help a potential competitor compete with them by giving them a benefit, at a concrete cost to USA (the league has maximized its payout - any new team will involve a cut in payments to the existing teams).

And UWF hasn't proven squat. They've earned nothing. They've proven nothing. They don't have facilities. If CUSA wants to extend them a bid, they're welcome to do so. If they wish to ask for a waiver to compete as a FBS independent, they're welcome to do so. But they're not getting a SBC bid, so long as USA and Troy are members of the conference. Why is UWF somehow the Belt's problem?
