No hard feelings at all, I was surprised my kid never got bumped up to a 3 star. I've had 100's of people look at his Hudl, no one could give me any reasons that he remained a 2 star.

Just my personal opinion, but I think the number of 3-star recruits has declined, in part, because there is no longer someone covering Rice for any of the recruiting websites (Rivals, Scout, or 247sports). That gives Rice commits less coverage, particularly when they commit before their senior year and are strong commits. Also, while this is just my memory and I haven't actually done the math (which I often do), it feels like Rice has had more players committing before their senior seasons than was the case 5+ years ago. With no Rice recruiting beat writer, there is no one telling/asking the evaluators to go look at the Rice recruit during his senior season. Other schools may not make offers if the player makes it clear that they are a strong Rice commit and their name never gets mentioned on the recruiting websites because there is no Rice coverage. Also, in the past, Rivals has decreased players from 3-stars to 2-stars after they committed to Rice.

Your son committed to Rice back in June. Was his commitment strong enough that you think other schools did not pursue him as strongly? Do you think he would have received more attention if he had committed to Rice in December 2016 instead of June 2016? Curious about a parent's perspective.
