The castle is attacked of course, and the night king was jnitially surprised that they had dragon glass weapons, changing his strategy in the battle. However, it's a heartbreaking episode, The unsullied commander, Sir Breann, and her wannabe lover wildling, Jamie Lannister, Sansa, Arya, The guy sam gives his sword to (forgive me with names) and pretty much the entire army is wiped out. The night kings Dragon is destroyed but so is another good dragon, leaving one alive, and the main group of whats left escape through a hidden tunnel in the crypt. The battle is the vast majority of the episode, its unreal. Maybe 30 minutes of non battle scenes. It ends with Cersei getting news of the battle that the norths army is crippled, and on the run, and she smiles.

Edit: it should.be added that overall the night king lost alot of troops. Added most of the dead from the norths army, but lost almost 3 times that in the attack. So the dead army is about half strength. Not looking good even still for the good guys

Swing and a miss.

The entire fantasy element to the story was quickly and disdainfully dispatched by the show runners, who never wanted anything to do with it. It is now period piece fan fiction with no sense of urgency, and primary characters with no purpose left and no meaningful end of decades of previously painstakingly developed character arcs... Enjoy!

Yup. There's nothing fantasy about dragons, wargs, direwolves, an undead army, resurrections, fire gods, giants, castle sieges, and horse lords. Nothing at all.
