I have been killing it on my workouts (more strength than cardio however), changing the way I eat, but only dropped 3 pounds total in 2 weeks. That is a little more than 1.5% total.

Well, wouldn't the strength training be hurting you. I don't know how close to the breakover point you are but if you are weight training and in decent shape you are probably hurting yourself. Cardio may be a better way to go.

Yes, it would slow the losses down, but the results last longer. Also, I'm not obese by any means. I only want to lose about 20-25 pounds. That would put me at 170-175 which would be great on my 6' frame.

Good point

Regarding weight training, it depends upon how heavy you are at the time. If you're weight training, and are also trying to control calories for weight loss, you will lose more fat pushing weight than you will gain in muscle. When weight training, you will need to keep an eye on your macros. Eating the recommended 56 g of protein will kill your body. I've heard people throwing out crazy numbers for protein intake like 200g/day if you want to get muscular. I don't think your body can process that much protein to use for 100% muscle repair unless you are taking 'Vitamin S'.

I think for most people who are lifting weights for fitness, but who are not trying to look like a bodybuilder nor trying to gain strength like a powerlifter, 80 - 100 g of protein/day should be reasonable. I want to gain strength, look great and burn calories. But my goals aren't to rip off a 400 lbs bench and to squat/deadlift 600+ lbs.
