On the Kaplan improvements, I FOIA’d the contract because I was curious, and Pamela Mason sent me this contract for the scoreboard and some miscellaneous stuff. Hopefully, some ancillary document contains a more favorable completion date than Feb ’24. If you’re an expert on the Construction-Manager-at Risk form of contracting, you might glean more from it, but it was hard for me without having the whole contract file. (If you’re wondering why I didn’t ask for more stuff, I didn’t want to wear out my welcome.)

Bottom line for me is that I don’t know where things stand, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out why it’s such a big secret.

In my opinion the College leadership needs to reach out to our donor base, the public and our athletic teams to reconfirm the vision for the Kap as we have lost momentum with the current campaign. Covid, inflation, turnover of the AD and fundraising staff have decimated the current efforts for Kap II and delayed the start of the Sports Performance Complex.
