I'm not worried about the "girth" of the players he's going after as big men, because it's obvious to me Siddle doesn't want big men with girth...or he'd be recruting them. And the fact his big men have height, but aren't heavy, points to a style of play that is going to be really fast paced with a lot of fast transitions from offense to defense and visa versa. Rather than worry about the lack of girth for our big men, i'm ready to see what his vision is for this team on the court.

If we are going to press alot, leaving a big man at the back of the press, quickness and length are needed to defend if the press gets broken, not girth. And our offense has never run through the post, so the ability for our bigs to establish position and post up doesn't happen much on offense.

So that just leaves defense in a half court set where our big men could get muscled around. Seems like a case of give and take, and he's willing to give that up for all the other benefits of having mobile big men who can run the court. So, it will really become a matter of who controls the pace of a game. Under Keatts, we were generally able to control the pace of the game to our advantage, and right now Siddle has more of the prototype players to run a high paced press and fast break than Keatts did. Loads of 6'5"/6'6" guys who can transition, and the depth to apply pressure and run the entire game.

The depth will also allow him to find his best offensive weapons in his mostly new roster, then use the press to create offense when those players sit to rest or due to foul trouble.
