Ga Southern and Byington have been high on him the whole time. He took an official visit there before signing with us. I'd be willing to bet he'd stay at UNCW if Byington is the hire.

Don't forget where Burke was an assistant for 5 years. This could be a way to put more pressure to make the interim HC permanent. I'm sure he's been in contact with the current players about Burke and the coaching situation, and the current players have expressed their support of Burke.

This years recruiting class should have little importance on Burke's interim status being that it's one former signee and I think Elliott is a PWO.

Regardless. As a player, he's surely been speaking to the current players and they may have told them they're transferring if he isn't retained. These guys can develop relationships now that didn't exist before the internet and social media. And he may have picked UNCW based on the guys that have said they would transfer and he wouldn't want to come to a complete rebuild with a coach and players he wouldn't know. Have to think about the reality on the ground.

I think you're overthinking it a bit. With a coaching change imminent it makes sense for him to open his recruitment up. These things happen all the time, even before social media.
