It's still an entirely different scenario. In 2001, the SBC only had one bowl tie in (the new orleans bowl) and back then that was where the SBC champion automatically went. north texas had won the inaugural SBC title outright and had a losing record. They were granted a waiver to play so the sunbelt wouldn't breach their contract with the New Orleans bowl

they were NOT an FBS transitional program (like GA Southern is).

The rule sucks, but until they go to amend it (which i promise won't happen until during the offseason and wouldn't take affect for another year or two) their's nothing that can be done for y'all.

BUT... as it has already been stated on there that was in regards to when North Texas won the conference title, but was 5-6 overall and had to get a waiver to play for bowl which the sunbelt was contractually obligated to provide.

Ga Southern doesn't fall into that rule because you guys are in your last year of FCS-FBS transition, as such still fall into the category of not being eligible for post season play (UNLESS their aren't enough teams to fill bowls) which WON'T be the case this season.

So North Texas can get a rule changed for them but we can't? Just saying.
