on the other side, it would be nice to have a single conference champ. Also for the host school it could be a nice bonus to have that extra home game. At GS we were used to having a week or 2 notice before knowing if we were hosting a playoff game (though the early rounds were not attended well). Also, a bubble team may need that extra boost in SOS to get to the new P5-buster bowl (or whatever it's called). Lets say you have 2 teams (MAC and SBC) and each is trying to get into that big bowl game. The MAC teams wins their CCG and is given the invite while the SBC team doesn't.
The SEC was worried for the same reasons for their 1st CCG. But it worked out and has become a huge boost for the conference. I personally like the idea of 2 divisions and the higher seeded/ranked team getting to host the CCG.
