I said GS would be able to compete for atheletes against them and that their higher standards would limit them in the recruiting battle. He just said,"we'll send the dumb ones down to you". That started another debate about how he wasn't true blue, but I digress.
The point is that they do have better prestige, funding, and conference. BUT they are more limited in the recruits because of their high academic standards that they are forced to meet due to NCAA APR guidelines. Unless they pull a UNC and just make up a class and give each player the needed grade to meet requirements
I don't want "dumb" atheletes/students, but odds are we aren't really looking to get someone who wants to be an engineer either. The differences between the colleges may sometimes be in GS's favor. Urban vs rural, engineering vs anything else GS can offer, School of mostly guys vs School with some of the prettiest women around. They come to the campus and they will be influenced.
Comparing GT to GS is like comparing Apples to Oranges. You just really can't lump the two into the same category. Personally I would compare GS more with Navy. We certainly should be able to compete with a school on Navy's level in recruiting so in theory we also should be able to have at least the same level of success that Navy has enjoyed.
agreed. I imagine that the recruiting and level of play over the next few years will fall between Navy and GT. But it is possible for GS to surpass GT as the #2 school in Ga. (no I'm not on crack, just a long term goal that GS should strive for).
