Artist: Clannad
Album: Magical Ring
Cut: "Theme From 'Harry's Game'" (Top of the Pops, 1982)
October 1982 RCA Records

"The young man with his reputation behind him."

A song performed by the Irish group Clannad, (Irish pronunciation: [kl̪ˠan̪ˠad̪ˠ]), an Irish band formed in 1970 in Gweedore, County Donegal. The song was written and composed by Pól Brennan, who initially wrote and composed it for the Yorkshire Television production Harry's Game, which depicted The Troubles in Northern Ireland. The lyrics are in the Irish language, and the song is to date the only British hit single ever to have been sung entirely in Irish. The chorus, "Fol lol the doh fol the day, Fol the doh fol the day," is ancient Irish mouth-music which is common in traditional music. Their sister/niece Enya (Irish: Eithne Ní Bhraonáin) left the group in 1981, before this song was released, to pursue a solo career.
