I have a buddy I used to go check music out in Nashville with. He's 10 years older than me but never old of heart. I have seen so many unknown bands down in Nashvegas with him. He now lives in Atlanta (Douglasville) so we only see each other a few times a year. He's 67 now and still going strong.

Anyhoo, he worked with me and walked in my office one day and asked if I'd heard of Kings of Leon. This was early 2000s and I hadn't. He'd read about them in Rolling Stone and bought a CD. He told me he didn't really love it and pitched it to me. I really liked it and have liked them since.

They have a raw sound to them. Plus I can relate to them on some levels. I remember my mother dragging me and my brothers and sister to different pennycostal holy ghost churches when we were kids. I got rock music at home and rock music at church. Long before these superchurches embraced it.
