sam stone - by john prine.

rolling stone named it in the top 10 saddest songs.

i've had the pleasure of seeing/hearing him 2 times. once at tpac in nashville with great acoustics. the other time in a field in muhlenburg county where the everly brothers were having a benefit concert.

acoustics don't really matter with john prine. he does play a fine guitar but his voice is as raw as you'll find. where he excells is his songwiting. he can depress the mierda out of you with sam stone then have you laughing the very next song.

i consider him an american icon. imo.
