No way, only upward trajectory. That would be like Arkansas going to the Big 12. ECU makes 10x the money that Sun Belt teams do and will be one of the favorites to win the AAC next year and compete for a NY6. The worm has turned and everybody is coming back. ECU's defense is filled w/ freshman and sophomores and are playing much better now than the 1st half of the season. ECU has shut out opponents in 8 of the last 10 quarters. That includes the entire 2nd half @UH who has a pretty high powered offense. $EC here we come!

The AAC is an island of misfit toys just like the CUSA. The Sun Belt has an identity and is run much better. Games against the SB east would much better draws than the AAC east, whoever they are.

ECU has a much bigger and better fan base, stadium, facilities, academics, budget, etc. than Sunbelt schools do. I'd prefer to fly to NOLA, Memphis, Tampa, etc than drive to Boone or Conway, SC. Besides, ECU has just as close (drivable) games in Annapolis & Charlotte in the AAC. AAC makes more money, has more exposure, better quality athletics (particularly basketball even with the deflections) and gives ECU the best shot at the next wave of BIG 12 expansion. Honestly, we might not even be in the top 5 of expansion candidates at this exact point in time but with consistent top quality football and improvement in other areas we might make the cut. Hell, we've already got SEC/ BIG 12 quality baseball FWIW.

If you want to keep ending up in CUSA under different names, go for it.

We want to be in the best football conference possible and make as much money as possible. A lot of it is out of our control but we seem to be trending in the right direction finally.
