I don't see the present core of the ACC ever separating. I consider that North Carolina, North Carolina St, Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida St, and Miami.

People talk about Florida St and Clemson leaving, but I don't see that happening.

Louisville, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Boston College are the outliers (to me). I think Louisville would be the most loyal to the ACC of those schools.

If the SEC came calling VT and NCST would take it faster than they could sign the papers. That would put them as the premier football schools in their state. VT already is but would make the gap so large that UVA couldn't close it. NCST would take it to finally be out from under UNC's shadow similar to Texas A&M with Texas. It would also help make NCST more of a basketball power in the SEC. Clemson and FSU would because football is all that matters to them and they would be set long term. I don't think this will happen but if it did I doubt those schools would turn it down.
