Oh, freaking ditto. "The buzz around the Big Ten" could just as well be some idiot fans sounding off in a forum without thinking things through (some other sports forum, obviously) as something said by Athletic Directors. Its a fairly meaningless attention grabbing phrase to get more hits for the article.

The article makes it clear that the Notre Dame series is more important for Purdue than for MSU, and MSU / Notre Dame is four years on / two years off anyway. For instance, flipping that to two years on / four years off wouldn't actually be all that big of a change. But Purdue's preference would likely be to put the series on hiatus for one year to line the series up with their Big Ten 4 home / 5 home alternation, to be in South Bend when they have 5 conference home games and have ND at home when they have 4 conference home games.
