Brett,
Thanks for the pub. However, you were off base one point. I never said anything about calling the Cajuns "Louisiana" except to say it is the preferred athletic brand.
I do not, and have never had a problem with "Louisiana-Lafayette" or "UL-Lafayette."
The University has been saying do not use ULL for twelve years.
The Commissioner continues to shove it down our throats....hence my consternation
BOP is a lot more diplomatic then most us, little Brett needs to understand that most of us really don't care what the little homer beat writer in Denton thinks. I could easily say that most people nationally don't know who Brett Vito is either, even if he twitters his name all day long!
Kinda like most could not care less what "ULL" wants to be called. As I read Vito, he actually supports part of your moniker argument; that names are derived from common usage not strict adherence to official nomenclature. By the way if you read a lot of Vito, you would realize he is not exactly the homer you depict.
Don't care about what Brett Vito or any other person in media has to say about the branding of our athletics. The larger point that he missed, is that Wright Waters is trying force his will in concerns of branding of athletics as a member institution.
