In retrospect, not joining the SunBelt was Tech's biggest mistake. Had they joined, UCF would have too (for a couple of years). Had they joined, they would have been 1 or 2 in that league in football for at least a couple of years, making them more attractive. At this point, staying in the WAC is their best move..boss those teams for a few years.....Sun Belt is going to be tougher. ULL appears to be adopting some of Troy's strategies (find academic casualties and transfers and jcs who are SEC athletes) and work hard with them to keep them in school. I think they'll be 1 or 2 in the league pretty soon. (ULL has used this strategy in the past, but couldn't keep them in school; it takes judgment and work to pull it off).
Tech fans always point to Auburn and USM and ECU when their market is discussed. Yes, Tech, your market is similar, but your team is not...you are closer to Rice, Tulane and UAB in team quality. (and spare me the Sagarins...look at records and bowl games).
