Skully, I hope that you've already emailed this to Dr. Erdmann, so I want have to.

I haven't, but I'd think that Joe Gottfried would be a quick resource for Erdmann as to whether or not Tech belongs back. 05-mafia

Who do Texas State, App State and bunch of other FCS programs keep coming up. They do not fit the requirements stated by the Sun Belt.

Hey Terry:
The Sun Belt isn't what it was in the past, I know short term memory loss is tough, but just bite your tongue on this one...

So, Terry, you "don't know anything about that," yet you then go off and spout your opinion on a conference about which you are clearly clueless! You are either an idiot or, as reported, brain damaged.

Ad what is this "Gulf States Conference"? Could he be referring to the D-II Gulf South Conference?

I am a big Terry Bradshaw fan. That is sad.

Alright, now I am a convert.

To hell with La Tech if they do not appreciate the SBC. We can not afford to have members that are not for us. With this attitude, La Tech will be looking to leave as soon as it can. Therefore, send UTSA and Ga State an invite. If UTSA wants to bring Texas State with them, then invite Texas State and UNCC. Let Tech stew in its misery. Go SBC! Go Jags!

Nope.

Back in TB's LTU playing days there was a Gulf States Conference involving most of the Louisiana schools not named LSU or Tulane.

You haven't heard of it because it's been deader than dirt since the early 1970s.

RE: And This Is Why Its a No to Tech...
As both Arkstfan, and Dwayne from Midden have said, we'll all know one way or another by June 30th.

I just find it funny how quick they are to say "I'll never support Tech athletics again if we go to the Sun Belt". Why?

If you support your school then what difference does it make what confrence you are in? I would support FAU even if we went back to FCS because I've become a fan of the team.

Would I be happy? Probably not, but I still enjoy watching them play no matter at what level they are at.

So basically, what will happen to the fan base over there "IF" they come to the 'Belt? Do they then support LSU? or maybe nothing at all? Will they then send the money to the Endowment fund for Education? I doubt it. I think its all hot air and they will still attend games and ***** and moan that they are better than were they are.

Honestly one of the best boards to just read because the things they say are SO crazy sounding yet it is CLEAR that a majority of them belive they are the next great thing in College Football.

You are in the minority in that believe, what's more, inviting any combination of the schools you outlined would be regressing and that belief is shared by most of this board as well as the Sun Belt brass. Don't hold your breath on invites to Texas State, UTSA, or UNCC, actually do hold your breath...maybe you'll pass out and we'll be saved from your obsession with FCS and start up programs for a few hours...03-banghead

I'm not in favor of adding any school to the conference in football. May not be a bad idea to wait and see what effect USA's entry into league football play (+or-) will have before proceeding to add others. By that time things might become clearer on who to invite and how many or if any.

What are the pros of LaTech rejoining the SBC ?

What are the cons ?

I would guess the cons far outweigh the pros.

Even if Tech brought the Shreveport market, Rutherford County 262k (Murfreesboro) is larger than Caddo Parish 254k (Shreveport).

Well the conference is aware of this and I don't think that we need to worry about La-Tech because I don't think they are being pursued. :)

The thing is, the move just makes too much sense for the speculation to ever fully go away. Unless La Tech does get their desperately sought C-USA invite, I'll always believe that there's a small chance La Tech to the Belt still happens.

At that point, I doubt they'll want it.
