If the WAC can get a few more football only particpants, travel concerns could be greatly reduced.

As crazy as this cross-country scenerio looks it may indeed be the fastest way to FBS. The WAC could go ahead and offer FB membership to all those who are looking for an "in". If there were 8 teams in each Division then the East would only have to travel to the West ONCE per year playing an 8 game conference schedule. Crazier things have happened (its happened before):

It may not cover everybody talking about moving up but you can clearly see the possibilities out there.
It would keep the WAC from falling apart and as you said, would help with travel (at least in the East).
