It is like being short. It is not impossible to overcome but it makes getting to the NBA much tougher. He can shoot and is a very willing defender which are major advantages in his corner.


Lack of speed kept Larry Bird from being great. Same with John Stockton

Stockton was very quick.
Both Bird and Stockton made the very most of their limited athletic ability.
Stockton benefited from having Karl with him. Bird was sneaky on offense and sneaky dirty on defense. He had a move where he’d stand on the foot of the guy he was guarding. Rarely got called for it.
They both became all stars without outstanding athleticism.

I think yall are confused. Larry Bird wa s a great athele, he just was not a great jumper
