This does not bode well for EMU. Could it be that Michigan is not very good?

Rather it bodes well for statistics and probability.

Each team plays what 30+ games so it means there will be say as many as a half dozen unpredictable outcomes. Team A over achieves or underachieves. That's why betting is what it is. No one will make a betting line on the sun rising in the east. Or one for the sun setting in the west.

I remember being in Detroit many years ago. Tigers played the Yankees. Beat them 16 - 0 one night and lost the next game. Same teams. Radically different outcomes.

I have NO idea if Bradley and EMU played 5 games how the outcomes would be. Maybe Bradley 3, EMU 2.
Baseball is bad example. Same teams, radically different pitchers. Here's the problem, Eastern losing by 5 to a top 20 team at a neutral site was considered a "good loss." We really need U-M to be a good team to validate the quality of Eastern Michigan, in the now unlikely event that they have a great season but maybe lose in the MAC Tournament finals. Way too early to speculate but I really hope U-M turns out to be a great team who barely beat EMU. Michigan losing by 25 to an unheralded ASU team just makes every EMU fan feel worse.

To say basketball is one of those more random type games. No rhythm or reason.

Wizards beat Indiana on the road and then lost to them at home.
Then lost to 76ers at home (by 7) and won on the road two days later (by 10). Literally a 17 point swing between two consecutive games.

And lost 5 of 6 and then proceeded to win 4 of 5.

Does this make any sense using your logic??? The sport which comes closest to 'form' I think is the NFL.
