RE: Coming Soon: NFTs for College Players

That said, seems safe for the players. I hope they secure all the bags.
I think that there's a business case that NFTs tied to legitimate intellectual property could be viable. For example, if a musician sells NFTs tied to a song and that gives the NFT buyers a percentage of the profits to that song, then that potentially has real value. NFTs (in theory) could provide the opportunity to effectively sell and buy shares of individual pieces of IP in the same way that you could buy a share of a publicly-traded company in the stock market. As applied to athletes, there could be a similar concept where, say, selling an NFT of a specific Nike shoe line that an athlete endorses enables the NFT buyer to receive a share of the profits from the sales of that shoe line (or even getting a share of that athlete's future contract earnings overall). I'm not saying that NFTs will actually end up working this way, but the underlying technology conceivably has value.
The problem, of course, is that people see the headlines of NFTs of some random Tweet or YouTube clip being sold for millions of dollars and all of the speculators roll in like they did buying tulip bulbs or Beanie Babies.
