As regards SHSU you are correct, but there are tons of UH fans in Houston. LSU is pretty much on a par with Rice and Baylor, mainly alumni fans.

Houston will offically become an SEC city when Texas joins the SEC. Texas A&M, Texas and LSU will dominate in the city. There are tons of U of H fans and a few Rice fans, so that is what SHSU is up against. Being located in Huntsville, 70 miles north of downtown Houston, probably does not help, either.
