For your cultural consideration: Batman as an American epic??
To give some background on this, Beowulf is England's epic. I've actually had to read it before, and I definitely didn't get it. Made no sense whatsoever. But I was thinking to myself, what could America's epic be??

To me, although it isn't labeled as such, if you took all of the classic Batman comics and put them together, that would be America's epic. I can't think of anything more American than Batman with Captain America, Spiderman, and Superman being obvious exceptions, but to me, Batman is closer to the average American than all of those other heroes with the possible exception of Captain America. Maybe Captain America is our nation's other epic.

Anyway, your guys thoughts?? What should America's epic be??
