RE: Why Big XII should invite Boise State

Then they watched as the AAC put a stranglehold on the access bowl and got a media contract that pays multiples of what they get. Boise has been trying to pimp themselves to the AAC ever since we dropped to 11 teams, with no luck. They bring no eyeballs, and they cause trouble. And some members havent forgiven them for what they did.
So many falsehoods in this post, it is mind-blowing. The AAC pulled a bait-and-switch on Boise State/SDSU when they promised a western wing to the conference in 2011 and added Temple, Tulane, and Eastern Carolina in 2012 instead. BTW, when the Broncos returned to the MWC, we made it part of our contract that SDSU be allowed to return as well if they wanted, so we helped them, not “screwed them over.”
Boise St announced the deal to go back to the MWC without even discussing it with San Diego St. The AAC told San Diego St that without another western team, we couldnt take them, but held off on making any statement until we worked with the Mountain West to ensure they would take them back. There was certainly no original deal between the MWC and Boise that included San Diego St in your move back to the MWC, because for a few days/weeks, San Diego st was in limbo. And seeing how Boise St d*cked over the teams in the BE, everyone knew you'd have no problem doing it to San Diego St.
Quote:While the AAC has done well in getting the Access Bowl, Boise State snagged it in 2014, and it seems one or two other G5s outside of the AAC have earned the bid as well—so not exactly a “strangehold.”
Boise got it by a sliver in the first year, and Western Michigan got it one year when Navy lost to Army in the last game of the season. So yea, pretty much a stranglehold. It hasnt even been close since Western Michigan.
Quote:I’m surprised Boise State explored membership in the AAC again after their two-faced dealings with us a decade ago, but that’s Harsin for you. After having a consultant show that a move back to the AAC was a loser, we backed off late last year. https://boisedev.com/news/2021/07/22/boi...onference/
Because we make a lot more money than you do, are trending up, and arent letting you guys sniff a post season bowl that doesnt have the name Idaho Potato in it. Also, under the new playoff system, the AAC will have a stranglehold on an autobid. So I get why your guy is pimping you hard. But you might also notice that Boise is having severe issues getting any kind of traction with the AAC. You werent as smart as you thought you were ten years ago.
Quote:Finally, AAC members hardly get “multiples” of Boise State’s take in the MWC. Each AAC school stands at about $7 million per year. Boise State brings in around $6 million. Given we’d have to park our olys in a lesser conference and have to fly back east 4-5 times per year, and take a reduced cut for being football only, the finances don’t add up to make an AAC move even a little appealing.
Our tv contract is backloaded, so we are startiung off higher in total disbursements, and will continue to pull away over the decade. Which is why Boise is pimping itself so hard at us.
