He led nationally ranked St.Benedict’s Prep located in Newark, New Jersey, to a State Prep title and in to the eight -team National HS Tournament in which he scored 18 points in a one point loss to La Lumierre, who they beat earlier in the year.

Since I know and have worked with Scott, here’s my insight into his play.

Scott’s freshman year at Kennesaw State he came off the bench and In his only start scored 33-points against Stetson. Shot 38.5 percent on three’s in conference play.

Playing his sophomore year, Scott scored 26-points against Butler, 22-points coming in the second half. He scored 20-points against NJIT in the second half. Against Texas Tech and Univ. Of Washington, he scored 19-points, against Florida State he scored 17-points. He averaged 17.3 points per game his sophomore year. Shot 36.8 percent on three’s in conference play. Shot 42.5 percent (17-40) on three’s in the seven conference games played in February.

When he transferred from KSU, he was rated 7th best transfer in the nation, and drew offers from Virginia Tech,Maryland, Dayton, and Nevada, but chose Temple.

At Temple, when he played many minutes in conference play he shot and scored well. As playing against UConn in a double overtime Temple win, he scored 25-points, including shooting 9-11 on two’s and 7-7 on two point jumps (outplayed James Bouknight), and 22- points against SMU ( 7-7 on two-point jump shots ) Finished conference play shooting 54.7 percent on two’s, the highest percentage for any guard in the conference.

Has a great first step and gets by defenders with ease. Can shoot well off his dribble from anywhere on the court. Has a high Bb IQ. Is terrific in the open court.

Outstanding EMU Asst.Coach Trice was one of his coaches at Temple.

At Portland State, he played PG and in his second start against Oregon State he led PSU from a 17-point deficit, made the Elite Eight in this year’s NCAA tournament, he led PSU from a PSU deficit as PSU outscored OSU 45-35 in a second half comeback that fell just short of winning the game. He scored 13-points on the second half that included four three-point plays.

He led PSU in scoring in conference play averaging 15.7 ppg in conference play, (high of 26-points against Weber State) and averaged shooting 35.7 percent on three’s. Shot 42.5 percent on three’s in 12 of 14 conference games.

He also led PSU in total rebounds at 5.3 per game, including 1.7 offensive rebounds per game, 1.8 steals, 3.2 assists, and led team in number of foul shots. Shot poorly at the foul line, but shot at 80 percent at the foul line at KSU. He averaged 1.8 steals per game in conference play at PSU, the second best in conference play. Was ranked among the conference leaders in almost every category in conference play.

His individual game highs, were 26 points, 14 total rebounds,6 offensive rebounds, 7-assists,and 6 steals.

He had an outstanding defensive rating of 95 points per 100 possessions.

As for turnovers, he didn’t start playing PG till four games into the season with no preseason preparation. Although his turnover rate of 3.1 per game was a little high in conference play, his turnovers were of such a nature that only 13-points were scored off his turnovers in conference play. His dribble was rarely stolen nor his passes intercepted that resulted fin easy hoops.

As a combo guard, Scott can play either PG, SG, or even SF. Fully expect that he will earn starting for EMU.

Best I not post here going forward but did want to share some info on James Scott.

Have enjoyed reading EMU’s fans insightful and respectful posts here, and look forward to following your takes on this up-coming season. EMU has hired an outstanding HC and look forward to his continuing to sign terrific recruits.

Thanks for the info sir! Although I do wish you would stick around, I understand.

The conference statistical splits tell us that we may be getting a gem in Scott.

Can you tell us why he didn’t play more minutes at Temple?

What Miggy didn't tell you is that he's Scott's shooting coach, and has had it out for Temple since Scott transferred out.

Scott is a streaky scorer, and doesn't play a lick of defense. He had no business playing at the AAC level, which is pretty obvious based on where else he's played, and who else has wanted him.

He's a good fit at the MAC level, but he'll always be remembered as just a guy and nothing else, despite whatever bull**** numbers Miggy chooses to pump up Scott and trash other better players.

Eh, we appreciate his input.

I think it speaks volumes that you are so insecure about Temple basketball that you would come over here to trash these individuals. You must miss Scott at some level. Otherwise, why bother?

I'm insecure? Miggy, a person who has a personal interest in his college career, a person with zero academic connection to Temple, has taken over our board on here with a running nonsensical thread trashing Temple, our coach, and even our incoming recruits who are in high school.

So I'm sorry if I'm not going to take some clownshoe taking a big dump all over my alma mater because we 'wronged' his star pupil only for him to end up at Portland State and Eastern Michigan for a reason.
