That makes perfect sense. DW had 72 assists in 21 games, Chandler had 63 in 59 games. DW had 33 three point attempts in 21 games, Chandler had 15 in 59 games. DW had 245 points in 21 games, Chandler had 261 points in 59 games. Chandler almost never has the ball in his hands. Now that our cough...cough..."real" point guards are no longer with the team, turn the keys over to Chandler.

They are practically twins. 03-lmfao01-wingedeagle

Chandler is like a 6'-8" Dane Bradshaw. He will do a lot of things that will help you win, but won't always show up in a box score.

One of the things he didn't do, nor will Chandler, is be a starting D1 point guard, or be a point guard ever. Williams was great at running the offense and DJ became quite good as well. Chandler doesn't have that skill set yet and it isn't reasonable to expect that he will. He will hopefully be able to defend 3 positions and play very good defense overall.

Following along with my Dane Bradshaw comparison, not a fan of UT players, just think he is the most familiar comparison I can come up with; Dane played limited minutes at UT his freshman and sophomore years as a back up point guard. He did not play meaningful minutes until his junior season, when Pearl played him at the 4.

Likewise, I don't know who thinks that Chandler will play point guard (the highlights I saw of Timberlake vs. UNC last year looked like he played a good bit at the point); I expect Chandler to play only the 4 and 5 positions and almost exclusively at the 5, once Minott establishes himself firmly as the backup to Williams.

I don't see Chandler at the 5 for more than 5 or so minutes per game, but who knows? He could possibly fill in for DJ, but I think that Timberlake is a much better fit. It all depends on Dandridge and Sam. If Dandridge and Sam can duplicate what Cisse and Dandridge did last year while shooting 65% from the field, that in itself will make us a better team on both ends of the floor.

I see Timberlake as a below average ball handler for a point guard, a good ball handler as a two guard, a great ball handler as a small forward, and off the charts as a 4. He's going to have a tough time getting his shot at the 4 though.

If Chandler can duplicate what Bradshaw did his last two seasons, he will be a real asset.
